Job Background

The Programme Officer is responsible for ensuring that all systems and processes that support programme delivery and build on their expertise are in place and functioning. Responsible for ensuring that capacity building needs are met in the overseas programmes. Responsible for supporting the development of funding proposals in line with organisational strategies.

Job Duties

•        Contribute to the development and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of country strategies.
•        Highlight capacity issues in country teams and support CD’s to build in country capacity to deliver to strategies including ensuring that countries have the necessary technical assistance
•        Provide technical support on strengthening the programme interventions in country.
•        Ensure that good practice and shared learning takes place within and between countries.
•        Approve project concepts and plans that are within scope of authority
•        Support the development of funding proposals
•        Identify and support the adaption of programme models from one country to implement in another
•        Arrange and conduct, where appropriate, research to support programme policy development
•        Support the development of programme policy positions
•        Oversee study tours to the UK, and between country programmes where appropriate
•        Signs off sponsorship and marketing literature for accuracy of content and fit with programme focus

Job Qualifications

•        Relevant degree (or equivalent) in development/social work
•        Awareness of international development and/or social work/social policy issues.
•        Basic understanding of children’s rights (and relevant international conventions/treaties). In addition awareness of issues for separated children desirable .
•        Previous exposure to/involvement in projects supporting child rights issues.
•        Work with an NGO (overseas experience desirable).
•        Experience of supporting the implementation of international programmes work as part of a busy team.
•        Sets clear priorities between competing demands for resources and organises and manages own priorities effectively
•        Able to identify sources of internal and external support and maximise these when needed
•        Can demonstrate effective problem solving and analysis skills and seeks information as appropriate to inform solutions
•        Has a flexible attitude to undertaking various team role and can cover for other team members
•        Is able to balance team and individual needs to achieve team and personal objectives
•        Keeps up to date with international development and social work/social policy issues
•        Is able to communicate (verbally and in writing) at an appropriate level of detail depending on the context.
•        Proactively contributes to discussions and meetings
•        Accurately presents information
