Our Client is an independent knowledge and expertise centre in the areas of international and intercultural cooperation.

Development Policy & Practice is our Client's main department for development cooperation, specializing in health, education, social development and gender equity, and sustainable economic development. It is a multidisciplinary department conducting research, post-graduate education and advisory work. The Health Area is expanding its programme and will further develop its portfolio with strong involvement of partners from the South and therefore seeks to recruit two senior advisors with a particular focus on:

1. Health systems strengthening/ health policy and planning/ Human resources for health
2. Health research including health systems, reproductive health and HIV/AIDS.

Main responsibilities
Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate health sector responses (policies, strategies, interventions, tools, guidelines and manuals).
Strengthen the capacity of partners in contributing to the generation of a stronger evidence base for designing health system interventions.
Contribute to the human resource development portfolio Contribute to national and international policy dialogue for health systems.
Contribute to developing and implementing post-graduate education programmes Identify and further develop opportunities through pro-active acquisition, tendering and networking with potential funding partners and/or mechanisms.

€3.284,- and €5.130 gross per month

Amsterdam, The Netherland

Relevant academic degrees including post graduate qualifications in one or more of the following; (public health, social sciences, health sciences or equivalent).
Minimum of 10 years working experience in developing countries in the field of health policy, health systems research, HRH, institutional development related to international health
Experience in health systems/health policy research/health sector reviews.
Experience in HIV/AIDS is an advantage.
Experience in training, teaching, curriculum development, training of trainers, and quality assurance will be an advantage.
Demonstrated academic writing ability.
Good organization, communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as being a good team player.
Ability to travel abroad regularly.
Proficiency, orally and in writing English and preferably French, Spanish, Arabic is desirable.

Salary range: €3.284,- and €5.130,- gross per month for a 38-hour working week. In addition, there is an 8% holiday allowance

Appointment is initially for two years, with the possibility of extension.
